Find out all you need to know about soccer equipment and supplies, including goalie gloves, cleats, jerseys and more.

Soccer goalie gloves are crucial for any goalkeeper’s performance. I’ve played soccer my entire life at a competitive level playing NCAA soccer and then semi-professionally in the United States. In this guide, I’ll discuss different types of soccer goalie gloves and some of the options available to purchase.

When you’re shopping for soccer goalie gloves the first step is to figure out the type of goalie gloves you’re searching for. There are four different types: weatherproof gloves, finger protection gloves, match gloves and training gloves.

Weather proof goalie gloves are exactly what they sound like. You want to break these gloves out on a rainy day or if the surface is slick. They’re made with a special material that makes them a bit stickier when wet, which allows you to get a great grip on the ball and help secure any situation when you need to catch the ball.

The next type of soccer goalie gloves are called finger protection gloves. If you’ve had problems in net with hyper-extending any of your fingers, then a pair of these are exactly what you need. They’re made to protect your fingers from any impact or hyperextension. Even if your fingers get stepped on during a play, the padding provided will help protect your fingers.

Then there are match gloves. This is probably the most popular type of soccer goalie gloves with are used for both training and match play purposes. They offer a ton of dexterity and you’ll have a great feel with these goalie gloves. Of course there are many different types that vary in quality, but a good pair of match gloves will usually provide the best grip and still give you the protection you need to keep your hands safe.

The final type of goalie gloves available are called training gloves. I’d recommend these to beginners and for training purposes only. Expect them to get scuffed up and worn down during practice, so generally don’t spend as much on these as you would for the other styles mentioned. They’re actually more durable then the other gloves, so they’ll last many practice sessions.

Pricing for soccer goalie gloves will vary depending on the quality. You can easily find a pair of gloves for $25.00 but expect them to come with very little padding. They will probably not last a very long time either if you’re using them consistently. Then there are the gloves in the $100+ range. My favorite pair of gloves are made by Reusch and are called the Goaliator’s. The grip is superb, they’re extremely flexible, and it uses air mesh to allow air to flow keeping the gloves very comfortable. The threading and wrist cuff allow for the wrists and hands to remain extremely flexible.

Some of the other top gloves on the market are made by Adidas and Uhlsport. One of Adidas’s top sellers is the FS Alround glove priced at $124.00. Ulsport has a great glove priced in the mid-range at $54.00 called the Ergonomic Soft SF goalkeeper glove.

A great way to find a pair of soccer goalie gloves is by searching soccer.com or any other specialty soccer website. I always recommend going to a soccer specialty store if possible to try the gloves on. If they don’t carry the style you’re looking for, at least you’ll be able to get your size. Good luck with your new gloves!

Find out all you need to know about soccer goalie equipment, including goalie supplies, proper sizing and more.

One of the beautiful things about soccer is that it requires very little equipment. However, for a goalie, there’s more equipment required, especially if you want to look sharp in net. Soccer goalie equipment can be a lot of fun, since you can basically wear your own gear without matching the rest of the team. Some of the jerseys made for goal keepers have become very flashy and a lot of fun! In this guide I’ll discuss different options available for soccer goalie equipment, including gloves, jerseys, and pants.

As a competitive soccer player my entire life, I’ve always admired nice soccer goalie equipment. Two goalies that stand out in my mind from the 1990’s are Tony Meola and Jorge Campos. They were always setting new styles with some funky soccer goalie jerseys. To this day, I still see the same jersey that Tony Meola wore in the 1994 World Cup on the fields today.

So every soccer goalie knows the essentials include, goalie gloves, a goalie jersey, goalie pants or shorts and of course cleats. The top brands on the market making goalie gear are Reusch, Adidas, Uhlsport, Diadora and Nike’s entered the market over the more recent years as well.

First let’s discuss a few things to look for when you’re looking for soccer goalie gloves. Goalie gloves are made in four different styles, based on the needs of the goalie. So first decide if you’re looking for match gloves, practice gloves, weather proof gloves or finger protection gloves. Once you’ve made a decision for what you’re looking for, then it comes time to find the right pair. Gloves vary in range from $20.00 all the way up to $150.00.

One of the best soccer goalie gloves on the market are made by Reusch. Some of the features of this glove include a mega grip palm that has an extra layer of foam inside the glove against your skin. This helps provide more cushion and it improves your grip between the hand and glove. It also has duo mega latex foam on the outside, which allows you to keep the grip in all conditions. This goalie glove is designed to help protect your fingers as well and they’ve included finger thumb spines, which allows for improved support and catching. These are one of the best gloves on the market for match-play and they’re called the Reusch Raptor Pro Duo Ortho Tec Goalie Glove. They can be purchased at soccer.com for $144.99.

The next purchase for soccer goalie equipment should be the soccer goalie jersey. These are a lot of fun to shop for and there are many different styles out there. Besides a cool design, make sure it’s lightweight and provides enough padding for you to dive around. One of the top selling goalie jerseys is made by Adidas and called the Condivo Long Sleeve Goalie Jersey which sells for $64.99 on soccer.com. It’s a climalite jersey, with padding on the forearms and elbows. It also has skinny sleeves that will sit tight on your wrists for support.

Soccer goalie equipment also consists of soccer goalie pants. You want to make sure you’re getting plenty of padding for when you throw yourself into the ground! It’s nice to have a bit of cushion to fall on. In order to guarantee the pants don’t affect your play, make sure they’re slim fitting. Stir ups are often found in goalie pants, so the goalie pants won’t ride up. Goalie pants range from $25.00 to $65.00 in price.

I hope this helped you in your search for soccer goalie equipment. There are a ton of options out there, so be sure to shop around. Good luck keeper!

Find out all you need to know about soccer supplies, including goalie supplies, soccer cleats, youth soccer equipment and more.

One of the beautiful things about soccer is that it doesn’t require much equipment or many supplies to play the game. This is one of the reasons it’s the most popular sport in the World. In many countries, they have a ball and that’s all they need. A lot of these countries in poverty don’t have access to the soccer supplies we have in the United States, like soccer cleats, training equipment, goals and anything else that comes with a price tag. With that said, there are still several soccer supplies that can help with team training, individual training and I’ll discuss several soccer supplies that have helped me throughout my years as a competitive soccer player in the United States.

One of the first soccer supplies I personally owned was called kickback. I recently found a great option for this called KicPocket. It allows players to individually work on their skills whether they’re home in the yard or out at practice, without having to chase the ball down. A stripe runs down the center of the KicPocket (which is easily visible) and when you shoot or kick the ball to the stripe, it will bounce right back to you. It’s extremely easy to set up and breakdown since it only weighs 30lbs.

Every coach should have a set of disc cones in their soccer supply arsenal. They’re great for training to help develop ball skills when doing drills. They can also be used for boundaries as well as fitness training sessions. I always prefer a bright color so they stand out and the markers are clearly visible.

Having quick feet in soccer is one of the best skills to have. Fitness is a huge part of the game and if you’re not fit, it will show on the field. If you’re slow, it will also show. One of the best soccer supplies to work on having quick feet, improve agility and to help improve fitness are training ladders. I recommend purchasing a set with different colors, which can help indicate different drills for the team. It’s also great for balance and coordination, which are another huge aspect of soccer. These ladders (4-pack) can be purchased at soccer.com for $49.99.

Small sided games are extremely popular during training sessions or if you have the urge to pick up and play with some friends. It doesn’t make sense to use full size goals in a small soccer game, so one of the best soccer supply inventions is the Pugg goal. These are small mini nets that fold up and are great for a small game. It also helps players focus on finishing the ball, rather then just blasting a shot. The ball must be placed to score a goal. The goals come in a set of two and the size is measured at 6′W x 3.5′H x 3.5′D. The set will only way 7lbs total and these soccer goals are sold for $99.99 at soccer.com.

These are some of my favorite soccer supplies on the market. They can really help during training sessions or for individual needs at home. Now the easy part is getting them, the hard part is actually working hard with them. I wish you the best of luck and be sure to take advantage of your new soccer supplies!

Find out all you need to know about youth soccer uniforms, including different brands, pricing and more.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always admired a nice uniform on a team. Playing youth soccer is a ton of fun and part of the excitement as a youth is having a great youth soccer uniform. There are many different brands and styles of youth soccer uniforms and in this guide, I’ll help you determine what the kids love in a youth soccer uniform, discuss different options and prices on the market.

When I started to play a competitive soccer at the age of 12, our team was one of the sharpest looking teams around. We chose to go with a club youth soccer uniform and we were dressed in youth Manchester United jerseys. Everyone always complimented our uniforms and we all loved wearing them. If the kids have a favorite team, youth soccer uniforms mocking a club jersey are a great way to go!

Some of the more popular teams that the kids may like to wear are Manchester United, Chelsea FC, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, AC Milan or their favorite MLS team. A lot of this may depend on their family background or the state in which they’re located.

Another fun way to make the kids feel like they have the best uniforms is by creating something unique. Many youth soccer uniforms can be custom designed straight from the manufacturer’s website. First you select the style, and then you go for design and colors. As for choosing the style, you’ll have options with material, from dry-fit to super-dry fit and usually made from polyester. Depending on the quality you choose, the higher the quality allows for the fabrics to extract moisture and keep the body cool.

One of the more popular youth soccer uniforms on the market today is made by Puma. The Puma Lyon Jersey is a great looking jersey with the Puma logo on each shoulder and the chest. It has a great sleek look with an open collar and banded cuff. It’s made from 100% polyester and is made with a moisture controlling weave. This youth soccer uniform can be purchased at Soccer.com for $31.00 per jersey.

Another popular youth soccer uniform is made by Nike. It’s called the Nike Rio Game Jersey. It’s a very simple jersey, but it’s pretty sharp looking. It’s extremely light weight for added comfort with a ventilation to keep the kids cool. It’s made with polyester and spandex panels. Once you get the team logo embroidered on here, the kids will love it. This is a bit more affordable than the Puma jersey mentioned above and can be purchased at Soccer.com for $20.00 per jersey.

I always recommend purchasing a home and an away jersey. If you prefer to only purchase one youth soccer uniform, then there are options to purchase reversible jerseys to guarantee you’ll never have a conflict with the other team’s colors. They also make long sleeve jerseys and this is a great option if the kids are playing late into the colder months.

Make sure to shop around and always ask the kids for their opinions before making a final decision. Youth soccer uniforms are a lot of fun for them and they’ll be the one’s wearing them! Good luck!

Find out all you need to know about youth soccer shoes, including different brands, prices and sizing.

I started playing soccer at a very young age and continued to play at highly competitive levels in the United States. Besides the love of the actual game, another part of the game captured my attention from a very young age – that was soccer equipment. I remember when I 12 years old, I always wanted to have the best cleats. As a youth, of course I had my parents choosing for me, but they did a great job helping me there. In this guide, I’m here to help you choose the right youth soccer shoes for your kids and make sure they’re prepared with the right soccer shoes when they step onto the field from a young age.

So there are many different options when shopping for youth soccer shoes. They make outdoor youth soccer shoes and indoor youth soccer shoes. Outdoor soccer shoes, also known as cleats are what you need if your child is playing on a real grass field outside. Many fields are now made with field turf (new style turf), which is extremely soft and there’s no dirt. If you’re child is playing on a field turf field, you can probably get away with youth indoor soccer shoes or youth turf soccer shoes.

Once you know the type of surface your child will consistently be playing on, then it’s time to shop. First I’ll discuss some things to look for in youth soccer cleats.

There’s a wide variety of styles to choose from, but what the cleats are made from are the most important thing to look for. Some youth soccer shoes are made from plastic and I highly recommend you stay away from those. Always look for leather (kangaroo) or synthetic leather. Kangaroo leather is the traditional style soccer cleat, while newer cleats are made out of synthetic leather.

Youth soccer shoes vary in price anywhere from $15.00 on the lower end to $80.00 on the higher end. The more popular brands (and with good reason) for youth soccer shoes are Nike, Puma and Adidas. Here are a few of my favorite youth soccer cleats on the market:

Nike Youth Talaria V FG – They’re made from synthetic leather which keeps them at a super lightweight allowing for a bit more speed. It’s also takes some pressure off the feet with a contoured sockliner, which reduces pressure from the actual cleat studs. The youngsters love the color of this youth soccer shoe. These cleats are sold for $80.00

adiNOVA 2 TRX FG – This popular youth soccer shoe is made by Adidas. It’s a more affordable option, which retails at $50.00. This sleek shoe is designed with adiPRENE cushion to help support your childs feet on the firm ground. It’s made with leather on the upper portion of the shoe and has a synthetic lining to keep the shoe light as well. The lacing is designed to help maximize the potential ball control with off-centered lacing.

The youth soccer shoes mentioned above both have several features that separate the good cleats from the bad. Now that you’re ready to shop, always make sure the youth soccer shoes are comfortable on your child and they should be a tiny bit snug. Keeping the cleats snug, allow for better ball control since your child can get a better feel for the ball. Good luck shopping and I hope this guide has helped you find the right youth soccer shoes for your child!
